The Elbow Friend is a very simple padded cushion that attaches to the top of a chair’s existing armrest.  It can instantly turn any economy chair into a custom, ergonomic-friendly luxury chair without the extravagant expense.   It can also be used on high-end chairs, waiting room chairs, patio furniture, beach chairs and even stadium seating.

How does it work?

The Elbow Friend can be attached in 2 different ways utilizing hook and loop, to provide for ultimate flexibility.  You can use the adhesive pads to attach directly to a chair with hard surface armrests, or use the straps to wrap around the chair’s armrests.

Because of this simple method of hook and loop attachment, it can easily be removed if desired.  For example, the same Elbow Friends can be used on your chair at work, then taken off at the end of the day and brought home to be used there.

Why is proper elbow support so important?

“Armrests improve posture and promote freedom of movement while stabilizing the way we sit. They also reduce the muscle loads on the neck, shoulders and arms; reduce pressures on the spine; distribute pressures on the seat, support rising and sitting in the chair, and help us do our work.”

In present day situations, people often work at computer stations or desks for long periods of time.  Many of the armrests provided on chairs in the last decade present a surface of hard or relatively hard material, which is uncomfortable for the user, especially over a long period of time.  Ever sat in a chair with those hard molded-plastic armrests?  Most of us have.  Offices purchase large volumes of these chairs for an understandable reason, they’re more economical.

However, we now know that many Musculo-Skeletal Disorders such as neck and shoulder discomfort can result from inadequate support of the arms, and may cause people to sit in ways that eventually cause discomfort in other areas, such as the forearms or wrists.

Until now with the Elbow Friend, there has not been an effective or economical way of improving the quality of a user’s armrests, without having to upgrade to an expensive chair.

“The Elbow Friend helps to reduce the pressure placed onto the elbow and forearm when seated in a desk chair.  This in turn may help reduce discomfort felt from long periods of time spent seated doing desk work.  Relieving this pressure point area may help reduce numbness and tingling in the forearm and/or hands which sometimes occurs with long periods of desk work.  I found it to be especially effective when using a computer mouse.  Your body weight is usually shifted into the opposite non-mouse using arm/hand during this task.  If that arm is resting on the armrest the Elbow Friend will reduce this pressure point, which may provide a longer more comfortable work session.”
